Photography Bee's Eye View

This series of photographs emerged from a project on the causes and impact of climate change on the planet entitled 'We Are Here'. I wondered how bees would see the world, sea and land pollution, forest fires,  and plastic waste with their compound eyes. Maybe the way they see the world could help us change our perception of our lifestyles and its impact on global warming?

I experimented with taking photographs through the handheld kaleidoscope that I was given as a child. These photographs were interesting but distorted. I then had the idea of downloading a kaleidoscope app on my phone. I found the outcomes replicated flowers or the sun. Bees are essential to the human lifestyle. Without them, we could not survive. Bees are essential to pollination and crops. A bee's eye view sees the beauty of a polluted world on fire. The images remind us that we have the choice and power to change the direction towards global warming. The photographs are powerful and very eye-catching.  If you look deeper you can see within them forest fires, oil pollution in the seas, plastic pollution, melting icecaps.
